Cookies
What we set, and what you can turn off
The site itself sets no cookies. Google Analytics and the Google map do, so neither loads until you accept. This page lists every service that can see your visit, and how to change your mind.
What a cookie is, briefly
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between requests — that you are logged in, say, or that a video was paused halfway. Related technologies such as local storage and session storage do a similar job.
What this website does
bucks.com.hr is a static site: fixed pages, no accounts, no database of visitors, no payments taken online. The one form is the booking enquiry, which is emailed to the villa manager rather than stored here. The site sets no cookies of its own. The single thing it stores is your cookie choice itself, kept in your browser's local storage so you are not asked again on every page.
There is no advertising and nothing is sold on. What we do measure is page views, through Google Analytics, and only if you accept. Choose Essential only and no analytics script is ever fetched. Here is the full list of everyone who can see your visit.

The host's security cookie
Cloudflare serves the site and protects it from automated abuse. As part
of that it may set a strictly necessary cookie such as __cf_bm. Cookies of that kind are exempt from consent requirements because the
site could not be delivered safely without them. It is not used for
advertising and it does not build a profile of you.
The video
The villa video is embedded in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, from
www.youtube-nocookie.com. That mode defers cookies until
you actually start playing — it does not eliminate them. And as soon as the
player appears on the page, YouTube's servers have already received your IP
address, because your browser had to fetch the player from them. If you never
press play, you avoid the cookies but not the connection.
The map
The map on the contact page is a Google Maps embed, and it behaves differently from the video: it stays switched off until you both accept cookies and click to load it. Until you do, nothing is fetched and Google receives nothing. Once loaded, Google has your IP address in the same way YouTube does. The local area page links out to OpenStreetMap, but that is an ordinary link — following it leaves our site, and what happens there is governed by their terms, not by this page.
Changing your mind
The choice you made in the banner is stored in your browser, not on our servers, so it applies to that browser on that device. Nothing is tied to you as a person.
To change it at any time, open and choose again. Picking Essential only stops the analytics script being fetched on your next page view, and clearing your browser's site data for bucks.com.hr resets the question entirely.
How to avoid the embeds
- Do not press play. The video sets no cookies until you start it.
- Block third-party content in your browser. Every modern browser can block third-party cookies, and most privacy modes or extensions can block third-party frames outright. The video and map will simply not appear; the rest of the site works normally.
- Clear what is already there. Your browser's settings let you see and delete cookies for any site, including this one.
- Skip the map. The contact page gives the address in plain text, and the local area page describes the surroundings in words.
Blocking cookies broadly can break other websites, which is why we mention it as your choice rather than a recommendation.
Changes to this page
